Reflection
After compiling research, we have noticed that the Jim Crow Laws in Alabama during the 1930's very much relates to the historical context of To Kill a Mockingbird. Since the story took place in Monroeville, Alabama during the 1930's, this signify's that the Jim Crow laws must have had a large impact on the overall plot of the story. In addition the story to our understanding incorporates the Scottsboro case of 1931 which further more portrays the inequality African Americans were faced with in the Jim Crow South. Jim Crow Laws often denied Blacks a fair trial by jury because of the strict segregation that was enforced in public areas which explains why the 9 men accused of rape in the case were initially sentenced to the death sentence.
